The school staff and members of the school's After Care Centre and Phakamani make provision for 180 pre-school children and also provide adult learning opportunities. Since the introduction of the JOY Bracelet Project to the school by Helene Rykaart they have made more than 3500 bracelets. Victoria, the principle, who started the school herself 14 years ago, says:
"The JOY Bracelet help us to live better lives. It helps us to teach the children about values and how we should all treat one another. Our parents are now also coming and asking us to tell them more about The Fruits of the Spirit and are taking the message to their families, churches and friends." |

“Straatlig, ons projek gevestig by die Stellenbosch Nagskuiling, streef daarna om met ons visie, “heel, hoop, lewe!”, aan haweloses hoop en beskerming te bied deur hulle deel te maak van ons werkskeppingsprojek – ‘n vertakking van Straatlig wat fokus op die vervaardiging van leerprodukte.
Die produkte wat ons fabriek verlaat kom elk met ‘n komplimentêre JOY Bracelet saam. Die werknemers van die projek kan dus ten spyte van swaarkry steeds uitreik na die wêreld daar buite met die geleentheid wat vir hulle geskep word deur JOY Bracelet.” |

“Safe House Stellenbosch is a home for abused women and their children who have suffered physical and emotional abuse, rape and other traumas related to domestic violence. We facilitate a rehabilitation process and create an environment where women and children can be protected and recuperate from such abuse.
We started a project in collaboration with JOY Bracelet to make bracelets. To the women in our care it is an amazing experience to not only be able to spread JOY to others by producing these bracelets, but to also have the opportunity to learn a new skill they would be able to continue when leaving the Safe House. |

The above projects all receive donations of beads, elastic and cards, explaining the colours used, from JOY Bracelet. We are very proud of all their boundless energy and initiative in sharing our vision!
